Objectives: The introduction of cesarean section categorization and recommendations on decision to delivery interval was a major step forward towards standardizing clinical response obstetric emergencies. recommended (DDI) for category 1 sections is 30 minutes, however there balance be struck ensure that reducing fetal hypoxic risk not at the expense increasing maternal morbidity. aim study review sections, focusing reasons delays neonatal outcomes. Design: conducted as quality improvement initiative performance institution in managing women delivered between January 2020 August 2020. Methods: data extracted from operating theatre log book patient electronic records (Cerner system) analyzed using SPSS statistics package. Results: There were 577 cases Cesarean undertaken during period. DDI minutes achieved 385/577 (67%) but exceeded 192/577 (33%) cases. most common indication distress (58%). It noted significantly more (88.8%) <30-minute group had taken labor ward, which close proximity theatre. Significantly epidural or general anesthesia. Significant preparation time, transfer anesthesia time >30-minute group. neonates lower pH base excess measurements birth fewer admitted intensive care unit. Conclusion: This has demonstrated only two thirds deliveries are performed within 30-minute recommendation. evident every stage process performing cesarean. some factors modifiable such non ward transfers. Continued monitoring outcomes recommended.
